    Fishing
Rock Glen House Hotel ClifdenEnjoy fishing in the Atlantic ocean Emlaghmore Fishery has the exclusive rights on the Doohulla River and a number of lakes including Maumeen, Emlaghkeeragh, Barrowen, Barrcostello, Aturtaun and Carrick. Guests may fish the lakes from the shore free of charge or pay E20 for the use of a boat. A good day in the 1960's Brown Trout may be fished from April and there are some small lakes which can be fished easily from the bank, yielding breakfast sized fish which may be cooked for you at the Lodge. The Sea Trout start to run in June, with July, August and September the best months. There are rods available for hire and lessons in Fly Fishing for beginners. Unfortunately the salmon have now nearly all disappeared on the Doohulla River, and after several breaches of the dam, the sea trout are presently recovering from an all time low. Recent efforts to supplement the existing numbers are beginning to be felt but fishermen should note that a catch and release system is in place to preserve stocks. The nearest Salmon fisheries are Ballynahinch, Clifden, Kylemore, Erriff and Delphi, where days can be arranged if sufficient notice is given. Delphi in particular has recorded very good catches in recent years as the result of a sophisticated rearing and ranching sheme.

    Golfing
Enjoy Golf in the 18 hole Connemara Championship Golf Course An invigorating sea breeze is likely to escort you up the 381yard first hole. The second opens the horizon to big sky above the Twelve Ben Mountain Range. Breathtaking views of swans, Connemara Ponies and even a castle will inspire you ...all part of the magic of this adventurous 27 hole championship course. The back nine has been described as "the equal of any in the world." Greens set high in the hillside on the 14th and 15th can be unnerving, particularly after the very short but testing 13th. In the year 2000, an additional nine opened. The first two holes meander along the coast with waves pounding on white sand beaches below. The third and fourth curl inland along a tricky waterway. The next five holes are a climb into rocky rolling hills with stunning mountain and ocean views.

    Quotes
The course is amongst the most beautiful - and testing - in Ireland. Achieving the par of 72 at Connemara is a considerable achievement even for the best of golfers. Golf Monthly, February 2004 A true Championship Links Course...The elevated greens on the back nine are spectacular. Tom Watson said If there were a course like this on the west coast of England it would surely host the British Open. Peter Alliss, golf writer and BBC commentator. "Ireland voted International Golf Destination of the Year - 2004 by International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO)"
